He had a Crape Murder contest. He's got some horrible pictures and a funny commentary on each one. It is a sad practice indeed.Tonihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13862726143727717921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-16859728079731908082012-03-16T06:42:55.927-07:002012-03-16T06:42:55.927-07:00Sadly, Crape Myrtles are not hardy here. It is a shame to see them so mistreated.Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00116583212813729057noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-79056104012049562842012-03-10T06:45:23.083-08:002012-03-10T06:45:23.083-08:00I think it is also easier just to top!I think it is also easier just to top!Tatyana@MySecretGardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15230255354868127650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-79091665211280102412012-03-09T19:24:07.680-08:002012-03-09T19:24:07.680-08:00Never cared for the hacking up of crape myrtles ei...Never cared for the hacking up of crape myrtles either. Great entertainment lamenting about them. We have two small ones a gift from the National Arbor Day Society, couldn't they have given away native plants or at least plants that are wildlife beneficial. They have proven very hardy as the whips took me a long time to figure out where to plant them.Randy Emmitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10292186655869617897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-50722347272699081642012-03-08T20:16:21.230-08:002012-03-08T20:16:21.230-08:00You are preaching to the choir! There are so many crape myrtles around here that have been murdered!Janet, The Queen of Seafordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07876204203323750245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-64482754564750112872012-03-08T19:01:18.075-08:002012-03-08T19:01:18.075-08:00You had me at that picture of nancy drew! And, it seems to me, they all have the same bloom times, which run into months.Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01524574998937986323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-47165966139591143112012-03-08T16:53:42.957-08:002012-03-08T16:53:42.957-08:00Crepe murder makes me crazy!!! Someone told me once that that their 'landscaper' recommended it and I replied that he was just looking for a paycheck. A dirty truck and a chainsaw doesn't make someone a landscaper. I'm in the process of cleaning up the branch pruning job I did on one of my crepes to allow more light into the middle. It's painful how much ignorance is out there. If it were survival of the smartest instead of the fittest, the world would be significantly less populated. Apparently, there are a lot of really fit morons out there.Casa Mariposahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16647089868277238456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-35865106947330826512012-03-08T16:33:40.711-08:002012-03-08T16:33:40.711-08:00that's really important about the size. i thin...that's really important about the size. i think one of the main reasons people butcher them is because they grow too big for the spot they put them in. it does make you cringe to see those poor mistreated trees. by the way, that sillouette picture is great.Dariciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03139602899939762309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8777625001092184872.post-47867712743163817322012-03-08T15:55:54.668-08:002012-03-08T15:55:54.668-08:00I wish this practice would stop. Maybe with more education and awareness, people will stop this cruel practice.HolleyGardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14892421871044249940noreply@blogger.com
